Antieke blauw/witte Kan -Stoomschip "Kangaroo" Australië - F.Morley & Co

Een 'ironstone china' kan, met nautisch thema, door 'F.Morley & Co' (1845-1858).

De kan is ongeveer 25 cm hoog en is in blauw/wit gedecoreerd.
Op de voorkant staat een wapen met een stoomschip, kangaroo's, een kroon en vlaggen, als ook de tekst "Incorporated by Royal Charter".

Destijds is de kan geproduceerd voor de Australasian Pacific Mail Steam Packet Company. Het stoomschip waarvoor deze kan in opdracht is gemaakt en waarvan een afbeelding in het wapen staat betreft "The Kangaroo", één van de in totaal 5 stoomschepen die van origine gebouwd waren (("Incorporated by Royal Charter") voor dit post bedrijf. Logischerwijs is dit ook de reden waarom er kangaroo's om het wapen staan afgebeeld.

Het schip werd eveneens gebruikt als transport-middel voor mensen die toendertijd emigreerden naar (o.a.) Amerika en Canada.

An 'ironstone china' jug, with nautical theme,
by 'F.Morley & Co.' (1845-1858).

The jug is c.a. 25 cm in height and is decorated  in blue/white.
On the front it depicts a coat of arms showing a steamship, kangaroo's, a crown and flags, as well as the text "Incorporated by Royal Charter". 

At the time it was made for the Australasian Pacific Mail Steam Packet Company. The steamship for which this jug was commissioned and of which an image is portrayed in the coat of arms concerns "The Kangaroo", one of the in total 5 steamships which were originally built  ("Incorporated by Royal Charter") for this firm. Understandably this is also why kangaroo's are depicted on and around the coat of arms.

The ship was also used as mode of transport for people who at the time immigrated to (amongst others) America and Canada.

Bijzonderheden: Buiten wat schade op twee plaatsen op de kan (zie foto's), door de tijd heen ontstaan, is deze in goede staat.
